Cell Organelle
Function
nucleus
The Control center of the cell.
nucleolus
Contains RNA and makes ribosomes
nuclear membrane
Controls what goes in and out of the nucleus
Cell Membrane
Controls what goes in and out of the cell.
mitochondria
The powerhouse. Food is converted to chemical energy (cellular respiration)
chloroplasts
Carries out photosynthesis (only found in plant cells)
Vacuole
A storage structure for water, food, and enzymes (1 big one in plants, many in animals)
Golgi Bodies
Packages and modifies proteins.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Transports material inside of the cell.
Cytoskeleton
Gives the cell structure and support
Cell wall
Gives
PLANT
cells their rigid support.
centrioles
Helps to control cell division (only found in Animal cells)
Lysosomes
Aids in digestion.
Ribosomes
synthesizes proteins
Chromatin
The DNA
Cillia
Short hairlike projections used for movement.
Flagella
Long whip-like projections used for movement.
